With the cross on the left pad, it is much easy to tell. I can't quite tell when I'm about to transition into diagonol from forward, or vice versa. This is not the case, for me at least, with a analog stick. The other issue is that with WASD on a keyboard you have well defined presses. The psudo-Dpad has more of that feel, even if you aren't pressing any buttons (I just slide my finger around). You expect a certain degree of fine, detailed action with a analog stick, and precision with a button/key press. For a number of games I've tried binding WASD to the left analog stick and it just doesn't work me. I would NOT bind analog movement to either pad if I could avoid it, but WASD is not analog. It didn't work well since when you're running, the stick is already at an angle which makes it ackward. A while ago, in a different game on a 360 ctronller, count sprint to left stick click. Left pad for sprinting is far more natural so long as it is also used for movement. The mini-rant is not directed at your Random, but rather me just venting my frustration with an "feature" that is in damn near every game, despite being less than useless. It's better than if I was using a stick for look/aim, but worse than a real mouse. If I ever get it worked out I'll post my bindings. This helps with the juggling, at least for me. The left shoulder toggles the HUD and the right is a modifier. I just changed my HUD from having to hold for it to display to a toggle. In anycase, I essentially swapped the left pad and the stick. I have not used quickslots a single time. I played through with an Adapt and an Infiltrator. I've played through ME1 four times, ME2 three times, and ME3 two times. I don't have quick slots bound since I never use them. In the middle of the action you have to take your fingers off something important (because everything is important). The idea that devs actually waste time putting them into games where you can pause is mind boggling. I don't understand the use of quick slots. I switched to something based on my Divinity II bindings, which is working better. Your set up looks like the set up I was using. If I need to use an ability I just bring up the HUD.
